International Human Rights Focus Group

The International Human Rights Focus Group, with a focus on human rights issues and working with other organisations towards supporting human rights efforts.

International Legal Practice Focus Group

The International Legal Practice Focus Group, with a focus on international legal practice and the challenges Australian lawyers face in the international marketplace.

International Legal Issues Focus Group

The International Legal Issues Focus Group, with a focus on responding to requests from the Law Council on public international law issues.

International Trade and Business Focus Group

The International Trade and Business Focus Group, with a focus on international trade and business issues and working with other organisations in encouraging exchange of advice and information.

ILS - IBA Focus Group

The ILS  has established an ILS - IBA Focus Group to draw together Australian lawyers who are members of the IBA to provide advice to the Law Council of Australia on issues relating to the IBA, to promote Australian interests within the IBA and to promote the activities of and membership in the IBA to Australian lawyers.

The ILS has also a joint membership program with the IBA where membership of both the ILS and the IBA can be arranged for a reduced fee.


ILS - CLA Focus Group

The Commonwealth Lawyers Association Focus Group was established in June 2005. The Focus Group commenced work to promote Australian interests within the Association and to promote the activities of and membership in the Commonwealth Lawyers Association to Australian lawyers.

ILS - ILAA / Migration Focus Group

The ILS - Immigration Lawyers’ Association of Australasia (ILAA) Focus Group is representing practising immigration lawyers throughout the Asia / Pacific region. Immigration lawyers are best equipped to meet the challenges of providing expert advice to clients who are attempting to navigate through an extremely complicated system. The ILS - ILAA Focus Group seeks to further promote and improve the representation of immigrants and provide information and services to its membership.

ILS - Europe Focus Group

ILS - E will give European lawyers practising in Australia and Australian lawyers with an interest in Europe a platform for networking and information exchange, enhance Australian interests in the European legal market and will establish associations with European legal bodies, such as the Council of the Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) and the UIA.

ILS - LAWASIA Focus Group

The ILS - LAWASIA Focus Group was established in September 2006. The Focus Group commenced work to promote Australian interests within LAWASIA and to promote the activities of and membership in LAWASIA to Australian lawyers.

ILS - China Focus Group

The ILS - China Focus Group is chaired by Ms Vivienne Bath, Senior Lecturer and Director of the Centre for Asian and Pacific Law at Sydney University. The primary purpose of the Focus Group is to hold seminars and provide information to help legal practitioners wanting information about Chinese law.
